Bring a Shovel
July 11, 2003

Eldorado is at it again! Following a pattern they've established with their Armchair Decathlon and the resourceful Elgoatarod, the fun-loving town is holding yet another unusual event it calls the Running of the Bull.

The event, scheduled on the heels of its Spanish inspiration, is the most recent contrivance by idea man Jim Runge (pronounced RUNG-ee). Runge, who established the Eldorado Olympic Bid Organizing Committee, has declared the event as yet another attempt at putting Eldorado in the lead as a future host for both the summer and winter Olympics.

The competition sets participants against one another to see who can "run their mouths with the most bull." Categories will include the Biggest Lie, Fastest Talker, Longest Talker Without Stopping, Painful Poetry, Double Talk and Political Speeches. Contestants will score extra points for dressing in Spanish runners' tradition.

The contest and its related festivites will be held July 26-27.

For applications and information, interested parties should send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to EOBOC World Headquarters, PO Box 291, Christoval TX 76935 or send an e-mail to shootthebull@hotmail.com. Vendors should call (325) 853-2434.
