Apparently, high temperatures have encouraged visitors to Fort Worth's Water Gardens to jump in. The 4.5-acre park in downtown Cowtown attracts thousands each year to view the serene pools and rushing waterfalls that have adorned the city park since 1974.
However, many aren't content just to watch. As reported in the Monday edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the summer heat drives many to take a dip. Unfortunately, sodden participation is against city code.
Signs warn visitors not to wade; violators could receive a ticket up to $70. Fines are rarely levied, however, since the signs are small and difficult to see. Police normally give friendly warnings. Officials say the swimmers have been cooling off for more than 20 years and given the temperatures in North Texas, the problem isn't likely to go away anytime soon. |
