Hospitals, like airports, are perpetually strewn with construction zones, with new wings being tacked on ad infinitum and no apparent concern for navigation. The Emergency and Trauma entrance itself has been obscured from view entirely, which you’d think would be the one section of the hospital they would want a person to locate in a hurry.
The entrance has changed over the years, but is still recognizable from file footage as the site where John F. Kennedy arrived shortly after being shot. He was rushed to Trauma Room One, where he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m.
The area once occupied by the trauma room is now a waiting area for the X-ray department. There, you can find a plaque marking the site, though I didn’t enter to photograph it, as I heard a rumor there were sick people inside.
